Publisher’s Summary
Legendary story teller Stephen King goes into the deepest well of his imagination in this spellbinding novel about a seventeen-year-old boy who inherits the keys to a parallel world where good and evil are at war, and the stakes could not be higher—for their world or ours.
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a hit-and-run accident when he was 10, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. Then, when Charlie is 17, he meets a dog named Radar and his aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from it.
Charlie starts doing jobs for Mr. Bowditch and loses his heart to Radar. Then, when Bowditch dies, he leaves Charlie a cassette tape telling a story no one would believe. What Bowditch knows, and has kept secret all his long life, is that inside the shed is a portal to another world.
King’s storytelling in Fairy Tale soars. This is a magnificent and terrifying tale about another world than ours, in which good is pitted against overwhelming evil, and a heroic boy—and his dog—must lead the battle.

Skip the first 45min. Or first 2h 45min
It’s a standard mother dies in a “goddamned” tragedy on the “goddamned bridge” continued with the typical Drunk grieving father. After a prayer the boy makes… Father go’s to AA. Kid goes to high school.
Annnnnnnd then the goddamned story begins…
Also, if you’re not American… The over usage of unknown brand names, or should I say Acronyms, is just goddamned annoying.
As is all the “goddamned” things in this book! Seriously talk about an over used phrase.
May alter review…. Let’s wait n see… But definitely save yourself 45 goddamned minutes n skip ahead.
Man falls off ladder. Boy Heard dog. Man goes to hospital. Boy watches over dog. Boy become angry man’s BFF. House needs work……… Zzzzzz Zzzz
Sadly after 2h n 45min I’ve given up.
While it’s well written… I’m bored to death. So very very long winded and as a woman in late 30s it’s unrelatable.
Not a fairy tale… I won’t need any more guided meditation to send me to sleep… Because this book does it!
Goodnight

What a great book!!????
Wow, thank you Stephen King…this book is fabulous. The narration was perfect, really well done. I couldn’t stop listening.
I’ve read all of Stephen Kings book, and I’d definitely put this one up there among the best. A couple of little references to The Dark Tower gave me shivers, and Fairytale reminded me a little of The Talisman (which I also love). Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
