Private Detective Cormoran Strike is visiting his family in Cornwall when he is approached by a woman asking for help finding her mother, Margot Bamborough – who went missing in mysterious circumstances in 1974. Strike has never tackled a cold case before, let alone one 40 years old. But despite the slim chance of success, he is intrigued and takes it on; adding to the long list of cases that he and his partner in the agency, Robin Ellacott, are currently working on.
Robin herself is juggling a messy divorce and unwanted male attention, as well as battling her own feelings about Strike. As Strike and Robin investigate Margot’s disappearance, they come up against a fiendishly complex case with leads that include tarot cards, a psychopathic serial killer and witnesses who cannot all be trusted. And they learn that even cases decades old can prove to be deadly….
A breathtaking, labyrinthine epic, Troubled Blood is the fifth Strike and Robin novel and the most gripping and satisfying yet.

Favourite new fiction of 2020
Normally I find many series start strong but decline or lose momentum as they progress. J K rowlling is one of the rare exceptions where each instalment consistently strengthens and gets more enjoyable. Before troubled blood, Lethal white was a clear favourite but troubled blood is giving it a good run for its money. Her ability to create real, unique, human characters along with humour and flaws is unparalleled.
Robert Glenister did a fantastic job and I really hope he continues to narrate CS books.
I will be giving this a 2nd or 3rd or more relistens no doubt.
What a masterpiece

A
Incomplete
I want to clarify that my rating is because the audiobook is incomplete!
I am only up to Chapter 3 but Chapter 2 cuts away mid-sentence and it is clear from the UK reviews that this happens more than once during the book. I have decided not to finish listening until a complete versions is made available as I don’t want to miss parts of the story.
This is the second book this month that I have purchased from audible that has been incomplete – very disappointing.
